Love You Can Do On Any Day, By Shannon Batts, Relationship Gardener

Your mate loves suprises (maybe-depends, is it chocolate?), but I know something more satisfying than a bouquet that you can give on any day that ends in Y.

Curiosity.

Look at him-right into his eyes with an attitude of wanting to learn what floats his boat and ask questions that find out.  “How do you feel loved best?   What really scores points with you? If you could ask me anything to do for you, what would be the top 3 things?”

Look deeply in her eyes and ask what was a truly joy filled moment in her life, and then follow up with more questions that help her get her story out.  Find another, and another good story to hear about a moment of overcoming a challenge, or facing a fear. Find out what speaks love to her.  “What would be the top 3 things you would want me to do for you if you could ask anything?”

What are your top 3 concerns, what are you proud of, what is your yet unfulfilled dream?  Ask.  Listen with rapt attention. These are the questions that fill your Love Map-knowledge of each other’s world.  Happy, long lasting couples do this well-and it is a gift of love that so many are hungry for-being known, understood, & listened to.  That and a hand drawn Valentine should do it-oh and cooking dinner-thanks, Hon!
